Subterranean transfer pipelines, which are remotely managed and centrally controlled, link the tanks to pumps that provide long-distance pipelines between the tanker pier and the storage tanks. These systems facilitate the transportation of different grades of crude oil to various areas of the tank farm, allowing for the refinement of particular characteristics and qualities in both the crude oil and feedstock. Moreover, crude oil can be moved to and from underground storage caverns via the tanks.
